LOWER RESPIRATORY TRACT: MUCIN STAINING IN BRONCHIOLOALVEOLAR CARCINOMA Despite the fact that this BAC does not have obvious goblet cell features and the cells are eosinophilic, there is abundant luminal mucus secretion, in addition to occasional cells with intracytoplasmic mucin production as seen with a digested PAS stain. A histologic section shows a proliferation of atypical cells along the alveolar walls (A). |
