Intro

Per suggestion on Wikibooks:Schwarzes_Brett#GFDL_and_other_stuff and follow up at Benutzer_Diskussion:HirnSpuk#GFDL_and_other_stuff_continued I have created this page to prepare proposals to put on Wikibooks:Verbesserungsvorschläge.

I will make the text in English first and when it is ready I will translate. Everyone is welcome to help improve the suggestions.

Proposal 1: Remove GFDL as a suggeted license

GFDL is not a good license for media files per the illustration to the right.

MediaWiki:Licenses generate the drop down menu users will see when they upload files. Right now GFDL is one of the suggested licenses and it is even marked with "das Beste".

I suggest to remove GFDL from MediaWiki:Licenses so that it will not be suggested to the users when they upload files.

The lates version is Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License Version 4.0, so I suggest to add that to the list too. Perhaps add the newest versions first.

Proposal 5: Delete unused files

All files need a valid license and information about source and author. According to Spezial:Statistik there are 7,826 files.

It will take many hours if all files have to be checked to see if they all have the source, author and license.

There are 629 files on Spezial:Unbenutzte_Dateien. If they are deleted it will not affect any of the pages on wikibooks. So to save time we could chose delete most of those files by a special procedure so they do not have to be nominated for deletion every single one.

One option could be to make a central notice that from October 1, 2024 all the unused files can be deleted by any admin without further notice.

That will give everyone more than 1 month to look through the files to see if there are any that looks usable. To save a file all that needs to be done is to add them to a page or export them to Commons.

After that any admins can delete the files that does not look usable or lack the relevant information.

Would that be a useful way?

Für alle Dateien ist eine gültige Lizenz sowie die Angabe von Quelle und Autor erforderlich. Laut Spezial:Statistik gibt es hier 7.826 Dateien.

Es würde viele Stunden dauern, wenn alle Dateien auf Quelle, Autor und Lizenz geprüft werden müssten.

Auf Spezial:Unbenutzte_Dateien befinden sich 629 Dateien. Wenn sie gelöscht werden, hat das keine Auswirkungen auf die Seiten auf Wikibooks. Um Zeit zu sparen, könnten wir uns also dafür entscheiden, die meisten dieser Dateien mit einem speziellen Verfahren zu löschen, damit sie nicht jede einzelne zur Löschung nominiert werden müssen.

Eine Möglichkeit wäre, eine zentrale Benachrichtigung zu machen, dass ab dem 1. Oktober 2024 alle unbenutzten Dateien von jedem Administrator ohne weitere Benachrichtigung gelöscht werden können.

Das würde jedem mehr als einen Monat Zeit geben, die Dateien durchzusehen und zu sehen, ob welche dabei sind, die brauchbar aussehen. Um eine Datei zu speichern, muss sie nur einer Seite hinzugefügt oder zum Commons exportiert werden.

Anschließend kann jeder Administrator die Dateien löschen, die nicht brauchbar erscheinen oder denen relevante Informationen fehlen.

Wäre das ein sinnvoller Weg?
