"Ich schau dir in die Augen, Kleines!" und "Spiel es noch einmal, Sam!" sind wohl die beiden bekanntesten Zitate aus dem Schwarz-Weiß-Film "Casablanca" aus dem Jahr 1942. Ebenso wie diese Zitate gehört das Lied "As Time Goes By" von Herman Hupfeld untrennbar zu diesem weltberümten Film.

Ursprünglich war das Stück als Teil des Musicals "Everybody’s Welcome" konzipiert, das von Oktober 1931 bis Februar 1932 am Broadway aufgeführt wurde.

Das Lied ist inzwischen ein unverzichtbarer Jazzstandard. Von den wirklich unzähligen Interpretationen seien hier nur die von Louis Armstrong (begleitet von Nat King Cole) und Ella Fitzgerald hervorgehoben.
